5 Safety Tips for Planning a Wedding During COVID

With weddings coming back, it’s important to remember that COVID isn’t quite behind us just yet. Yet, with vaccinations rising, masks worn, and social distancing in place, we can still party as safely as possible. Follow these five safety tips to ensure your guests’ health and safety are a top priority while planning a wedding during COVID.

Offer masks at the entrance

Masks — but make it fashion. Everyone feels differently about COVID risks, so it’s best to respect their comfort levels and provide them with the resources they need to feel safe. Consider offering wedding-themed masks to guests at the entrance for those who prefer to remain masked while out of their seats. Bonus: They’ll make for some fun, memorable photo ops!

Choose the right serving style

To prioritize health and safety, skip the buffets, lavish grab-and-go spreads, and family-style platters. Instead, opt for plated meals, food stations (with socially distanced lines!), and individual servings of dessert. Don’t forget to get creative! Think how excited guests will be to receive a sweet treat in a laser-engraved acrylic box or step up to have it handmade right in front of them.

Split up the floorplan

What’s better than a dance floor? Multiple dance floors! Breaking up the elements in your floor plan is a great way to let people mix and mingle at their own comfort level. With several smaller dance floors, lounge areas, and bars, guests won’t feel pressured to be in a crowd if they’re not feeling it. You’ll be able to float from spot to spot, taking in the unique vibes created throughout by your guests.

Set up sanitizing stations

One of the best ways to keep people safe is to include hand sanitizing stations throughout the event — particularly at any high-touch points, like at the entrance, at the bar, on the way to the dance floor, and just outside the restrooms.

Get creative with signage

When you’re having a blast, it’s easy to forget about COVID precautions. Why not add some friendly reminders throughout? Have some fun with signage to remind guests about social distancing, point out the sanitizer station, and offer up masks for grabs. Everybody loves a good pun, so don’t be afraid to get cheeky!

Whether you’ve downsized your guest list or not, you can still have the party of your dreams. Just be sure to use these safety tips that you are building in ways to keep your guests comfortable and safe while planning a wedding during COVID.
