Indoor Weddings vs. Outdoor Weddings

When it comes to planning your big day, there are a number of decisions you’ll have to make – some easy, some difficult. One of those major choices that can have a huge impact on your special day is picking out a venue to say “I do.” When reviewing your selection of locations, you also need to discuss with one another whether you’ll be tying the knot indoors or outdoors. Some venues do provide both options, but you’ll want to make the choice that works best for you and your big day.

Not sure how to choose? Here are a few points to consider when weighing your options between an indoor or outdoor wedding:

Weather

Being outside for your wedding provides an open space for you and your guests to enjoy the fresh air and nice weather. Choosing an outdoor wedding is the perfect choice for the outdoorsy couple that wants to be in nature during their nuptials. On the flip side, having an outdoor wedding also opens up the possibility of bad weather affecting your day. Rain or high temperatures are hard to combat while outdoors. Having an indoor wedding provides you comfortable perks like air conditioning during summer months and shelter from stormy days. At the end of the day, both indoor and outdoor weddings have their advantages. When the weather is nice, outdoor weddings are ideal, but indoor weddings give you the peace of mind and control that a sporadic rainy day won’t ruin your plans.

Appearance

There are gorgeous indoor venues as well as scenic outdoor locations and both can provide a beautiful backdrop for your wedding. A historic estate, funky museum, or a grand ballroom are all indoor wedding venues to consider if you are in the market for an indoor celebration. An indoor venue can set a certain vibe for the style of wedding you wish to have, which could cut down on decor costs if the wedding venue already has the design style you want. Similarly, an outdoor location can provide amazing scenery for your wedding as well. A tropical beach, lush vineyard, or lovely garden can add a certain natural, organic quality to your wedding that can’t always be fabricated or recreated indoors. If you and your partner love the outdoors, you’ll know that sometimes there just isn’t a substitute for being in the mountains or actually having your toes in the sand.

Amenities

If you choose to have an indoor wedding, the venue may already provide services or amenities that you’ll want to have handy at your wedding. Having restrooms, electricity, and shelter all seem like essentials that always will be easily accessible, but if you’re having your wedding in a meadow or other secluded location you may need to include a vendor that will bring these necessities. An outdoor wedding may require a bit of extra planning for amenities that an indoor wedding venue may already provide.

When it really comes down to it, the perfect wedding venue will be a spot that you and your partner believe best suits your personalities. Whatever you decide, it will surely be perfect when the big day comes! What pros and cons will you consider when planning your indoor or outdoor bash?
