This is a part of our Creative Collaboration series, where we introduce you to our creative partners from all around the Bay Area. Today, we’re introducing you to Katie Montgomery of TPC Stonebrae Country Club.

Katie Montgomery is the Director of Catering & Events at TPC Stonebrae Country Club, the Bay Area’s newest Country Club featuring panoramic views of the San Francisco Bay. With inspiring views of rolling hillsides, gourmet cuisine and expansive gathering spaces, TPC Stonebrae Country Club is the perfect setting for any event.

We asked Katie about her favorite part about being involved in a wedding:
A wedding is the most important day in my clients’ lives. They spend months, sometimes years, planning for a single day of celebrating. I am often privy to the trials and tribulations that they encounter along the way. When all is said and done, to hear from the happy couple that their wedding was everything they had ever dreamed of, is the most rewarding feeling. The gratitude and appreciation that I have been shown over the years is definitely my favorite part of being in the wedding business.

She also shared a major ‘uh-oh’ moment and how it was recovered quickly:
A wedding cake literally melted off of the cake stand and onto the ground during cocktail hour. The bakery had delivered it hours prior to the reception start time. It was a three-tiered buttercream 100-degree disaster waiting to happen. Fortunately, the top tier was salvageable for the ceremonial cake-cutting photo, and I sent another coordinator to the grocery store to buy as many sheet cakes as possible. Since the cocktail hour took place in another area of the property, the guests had no idea it had ever happened!

Katie’s best advice for couples:
Pinterest Expectations vs. Reality can often lead to blown budgets, misdirected priorities, and unrealistic decor visions for your particular venue. Although the amazing team of experts at Fantasy Sound can make those dreams become a reality, don’t compromise your guests’ comfort, food, or drinks, just to fit a second chandelier into the wedding budget. People won’t remember those details, but they will remember if they went hungry or sat in the cold with no heaters!

Proudly serving Bay Area Weddings for over twenty years, Fantasy Sound aims to be engaged couples’ first stop- offering Disc Jockey, Videography, Event Lighting Décor and Wedding Planning services. They are fueled by great ideas paired with strong coffee, and will never turn down a piece of red velvet wedding cake.
