Welcome back to Fantasy Sound’s Creative Partner Spotlight! As we wrap up 2025, we wanted to shine a spotlight on the amazing Diana Amyx, Owner & Lead Photographer of Dia Photography and Lumina Studio Co! Diana brings such a calm, intentional energy to every wedding & event day, creating an experience where couples can truly be present while she captures the moments that matter most. Her approach is rooted in connection, trust, and storytelling, and we’re so excited to share more about her journey and what inspires her work. Let’s dive in!
Tell us a bit about your professional background. What brought you to the event industry?
Before photography became my full-time career, I spent over 10 years working in the dental field. At the same time, I’ve always been creative and drawn to art and photography. I almost always had a camera with me, and in college, I took film photography classes where I learned the foundations of composition, light, and storytelling.
Photography was always present, even when it wasn’t my main focus. Everything shifted when a friend of my husband got engaged and asked me to photograph their engagement session. I was hesitant at first, but that one session ended up being the catalyst for everything that followed. I loved the experience, the connection, and the process, and soon after, I began photographing weddings. What started as a small side hustle grew steadily into Dia Photography. In August of 2020, I took the leap and left my full-time job, and I haven’t looked back since.
What do you love most about your job?
What I value most is the trust couples place in me. I’m invited into an incredibly meaningful chapter of their lives, and I approach that responsibility with intention and care. I love creating a calm, grounded experience where couples can be present with each other while I quietly document the moments that matter most. There’s something powerful about turning fleeting moments into photographs that will live on long after the day has passed.
What’s the most memorable reaction you’ve experienced from a couple on their wedding day?
One of the most meaningful experiences I’ve had wasn’t tied to a single moment, but to a family. I had the honor of photographing all three siblings’ weddings, and by the time the final celebration came around, I felt completely at home with them. There was a deep sense of trust and familiarity. I wasn’t just documenting the day; I was part of it. Being invited back again and again, and welcomed so fully by the same family, is something I’ll always hold close. It’s a reminder of how powerful long-term relationships can be in this work.
If you could share one wedding planning tip with an engaged couple, what would you tell them?
Build in a little more time than you think you need, and be intentional with your formal family photo list. While family photos are important, scheduling too many — especially when extended family is included — can quickly become overwhelming and take more time than expected. Keeping that portion of the day more focused helps everything flow smoothly, reduces stress, and leaves you with more time to actually enjoy being together. A streamlined plan allows space for the day to unfold naturally, while still honoring the people who matter most.
