We asked PJ to tell us about what inspired her to pursue a career in weddings and how she got started in the wedding industry.

I am the oldest of four in my family and we always hosted a good amount of family events. I was my mother’s second hand with the planning decor, from there I knew I enjoyed to entertain. One thing I was certain about was that I wanted to do some sort of design. I loved seeing an empty room because I could imagine what it could look like. At that time in my life my friends were moving into homes and would ask me to help with where their sofa should be and what color curtains should they choose. I started to help multiple friends which fell into interior design. I would only do a room or two for clients, but it got me thinking that I found my strong suit. In 2010, my best friend was getting married at Casa Real and she asked me to help with all of the planning and the design. She was in the wedding industry and introduced me to so many amazing vendors during the process of her wedding. I had so much fun helping her out and loved the way this industry pulls together to make one day so amazing. That was the day I knew I wanted to be in the wedding industry.

PJ shares her favorite part about being involved in a wedding.

My favorite part about being involved in a wedding is the outcome. You design and imagine what it is going to look like and when it all comes together as planned- it is pure joy!

PJ tells us what she’d do with a week off of work.

I would go to the beach with my husband and my two kids and eat and drink whatever I want!

PJ is also sharing some advice she likes to give couples planning their wedding.

The main advice I give is that you can’t have your heart set on every single detail for your big day. When those perfect flowers you wanted for your wedding aren’t in season on your wedding date, don’t get upset. Always have a back up for your venue, your decor and your vendors. Your wedding will still be amazing and you don’t want to be disappointed during your planning process. Have an open mind, this time in your life is meant to be fun, not stressful!
