Who doesn’t love a beautiful floral arrangement? While we love looking at them, don’t ask us to design one…because floral design takes a special skill set! It just so happens that today’s guest on our blog is a floral extraordinaire — allow us to introduce you to Bay Area florist, Sheela Meskin of Sarah’s Garden!
I come from a very different industry with a Master’s in Gerontology (the study of elderly people). In my previous life, I was an administrator for a large nursing home in San Francisco. While I was working there, I completed my thesis on the Eden Alternative, which practices bringing in plants, flowers, and sunlight into senior living facilities. It was here where my love for flowers began. Sarah’s Garden was created 8 years ago and we still take pride in giving back to our senior community with recycled wedding florals.
One of my favorite things about this job is getting up super early (3:00 am) and drive to the flower mart in San Francisco. The early morning hours are so peaceful and the flower mart is such a beautiful space bustling with the most spectacular florals. It is here where I see our couples floral vision finally come to life and I love finding new and unusual flowers to compliment what we have already ordered for their special day.
Our most important tip for engaged couples is to start the planning process early. We typically book out one year in advance and with all the postponements and current scheduled weddings, things are moving at a fast pace.
It’s always a pleasure collaborating with Casey and her team at Beets! When you work with her, you can rest assured that you’ll always be in good hands.
