Wedding Planning: Why You Need the Wedding Pros

The DIY movement has taken the wedding industry by storm, with many couples attempting to plan their own special day. However, coordinating a wedding can be overwhelming, especially in addition to your busy life. From securing vendors to DIYing décor to coordinating timelines, the preparation process is lengthy. Unfortunately, couples who opt for the DIY option end up overextending themselves and burning out before they reach the altar.

Wedding planning is a full-time gig that requires a professional to ensure your vision comes to life. Wedding planners coordinate celebrations for a living. They’re experts with experience and connections in the industry. So couples shouldn’t assume they can manage all these moving parts on top of their jobs and family responsibilities.

Rather than working overtime, consider hiring wedding pros to save you headaches and allow you to enjoy your engagement.

The last thing you want is to get swept away by endless to-do lists and forget why you’re marrying in the first place!

wedding pros

Risks of DIY Wedding Planning

One of the risks of DIYing your wedding is selecting poor vendors. A planner is familiar with the reputation of the vendors in your market, but you’re not. As a result, you could end up with someone who produces poor quality or goes MIA on your special day. In addition, you and your partner have to set aside time to research and interview contenders. The ongoing search is enough to leave you frazzled before your wedding day arrives.

Being in charge also means you have to worry about more than getting ready. You and your significant other may juggle everything, from your venue and photographer to your caterer. So while you may expect vendors to be self-sufficient, it’s ideal to have a central guide, like a planner, to coordinate the details.

When it comes to DIYing the big day, it’s common for couples to feel stressed and exhausted. Rather than experiencing butterflies beforehand, they may look forward to the wedding being over, so they don’t have to deal with arrangements anymore. Suddenly you’re more focused on getting through the event than celebrating. You shouldn’t feel consumed by mental fatigue. Instead, you should be excited and head over heels in love!

That’s where a wedding pro makes all the difference. They take care of your checklist and allow you to be present. So while you’re sipping a glass (or two!) of champagne with your wedding party and getting ready for first looks, your wedding planner can ensure your event runs seamlessly.

Perks of Hiring a Pro Wedding Planner

You can expect smooth sailing when you bring a wedding planner on board. They will find the best vendors, oversee contracts and payments, coordinate team communication, and ensure everything comes together. You can rest assured your vision will flourish without experiencing overwhelm and burnout.

You also gain access to their network of creative partners, simplifying the vendor selection and collaboration process. In addition, they know who’s reputable and ideal for your event, so you can trust their referrals more than random online reviews. Plus, they may secure a better deal through their connections.

The best part is knowing your wedding is in good hands. You don’t have to worry about timelines or coordinating vendors. Instead, you can take in the excitement of starting the next chapter of your lives together.

Note: For wedding weekends, check in with your planner to see if they can assist with additional events, like the rehearsal dinner or welcome party. You don’t need extra tasks like these on your to-do list!

Your Dream Wedding Deserves the Best Care

Your wedding is a financial investment and deserves attention, care, and a clear understanding of your vision. So hire a wedding planner to take the responsibility off your shoulders and allow you to experience each magical moment, from your “I dos” to your grand send-off.

lighting design

Lighting Design: Why You Need the Wedding Pros

Many factors contribute to a successful wedding, from the décor to the timeline. However, one of the most critical elements (that’s often overlooked!) is the lighting. Lighting design is instrumental for weddings, especially if you invest in a nice venue and décor. Your lights can affect the ambiance, mood, and guest experience.

Attempting to DIY this element by only using overhead lighting can make everything look stuffy and low-quality. It also puts additional pressure on you. After all, you should be enjoying your day!

So while you could settle for what’s included with the venue or create your own lighting, bringing a professional lighting designer on board allows you to achieve the picture-perfect experience you’ve always imagined.

Risks of DIY Wedding Lighting Design

Recently, DIY weddings have gained popularity, and while they can be cost-effective, they can also be overwhelming. When it comes to your wedding day, your focus should be on making memories with those you love – not climbing ladders to hang up string lights. Also, keep in mind many venues do not allow renters to set up until the morning of their big day.

Between getting ready, communicating with your wedding party, and maintaining a seamless flow of events, you don’t have much time to spare for a pre-celebration DIY project. Juggling too many tasks can also take away from your experience.

In addition, DIYing your lights can result in poor execution and limitations. If you want your wedding to stand out with spectacular lighting, you need a professional who can guide you through the details, like selecting pin lights, gobo wash, or both. Opt to hire a lighting designer, so you can focus less on how your DIY lights look and more on celebrating your love.

Perks of Hiring a Pro Lighting Designer

Your lighting designer will likely have a relationship with your venue, allowing them to know where and how to affix lighting. Their experience will ensure your lights match the ambiance of your wedding vision.

And as the mood changes, lighting adjustments may occur throughout the night. For instance, you may want to dim the lights on the dance floor after dinner or cast a patterned gobo during your grand entrance. For these special moments, your lighting designer can make the evening a truly stunning experience.

Finally, you can say goodbye to DIY limitations because a professional can offer a diverse selection of lighting. That means you won’t be stuck with what you purchased at the craft store. For example, Fantasy Sound provides uplights, custom monograms, spotlights (perfect for your first dance), and much more!

Invest in Your Wedding Vision

When it comes to your wedding, you only get to experience the magic once. Your celebration is a significant financial investment, so rather than spending a small fortune on centerpieces and linens subject to low-quality lighting, opt to work with lighting design professionals who can bring a special spark to your event.

holiday party tips

7 Tips for Planning the Perfect Holiday Party

The holiday season is officially here, and it’s time to kickstart your event plans. Are you thinking of hosting a winter wonderland, a classic spin on Santa’s workshop, or the Grinch’s lair? Before you dive into the décor, venues, and catering, review these seven essential tips to ensure you plan a successful holiday party that blows everyone away and takes your celebration to the next level.

holiday party tips

Send invites ahead of time

The holidays are a busy time for family traditions and travels. As a result, everyone’s calendars will fill up quickly. So if you’re planning a holiday event, send your invites early. A prompt invitation will give guests enough opportunity to include your occasion in their holiday plans and ensure you have a fuller party.

Not a fan of the traditional mail route? Opt to send online invites to save time and costs. Also, an RSVP option will give you an estimated headcount to plan accordingly for catering and venue details.

Create a budget

As exciting as it is to book vendors immediately, consider establishing a spending plan first. When you have a budget, you will have more clarity as you reach out to planners, venues, and entertainment for your holiday needs. A budget will also ensure you don’t run overboard and stress about numbers after the event. So be smart and save yourself the hassle – you’ll thank us later!

Consider your event’s theme

Your theme can be as simple as a color scheme or holiday-inspired elements, like a song or a movie. Once you’ve decided on a theme, weave it throughout the rest of your party for a cohesive design. For example, if you’re a fan of Elf, you can transform the venue into the North Pole or New York City’s version of Christmas. You can also add custom signage to tie everything together. Your guests will certainly get a kick out of it!

Acknowledge the guest experience

What style meshes well with your guests – dancing the night away or bonding over games and activities? If you want to provide a memorable experience, you have to keep your guests in mind. Of course, you can go classic with a dance floor and DJ or rent a photo booth to build engagement and give people memories to take home with them. If you need more clarity, ask for feedback from your team or family.

Go with catering

It’s not a proper party without delicious aromas and appetizers filling the space. Rather than relying on the potluck style, consider hiring a professional caterer or food truck (you can never go wrong with a taco truck)! Bringing caterers on board will ensure you have plenty of food for everyone to enjoy and make the night a breeze.

Hire a bartender

A professional mixologist is a must if you’re throwing a holiday party, even if you’re hosting at your home or business. A bartender knows how to make every drink in the book, so they’re the perfect addition to your celebration. Sit back, relax, and let your guests sip on their favorite curated cocktails while having a great time!

Also, you can brainstorm and create a custom drink with the bartender that represents your family, business, or holiday theme. It’s a fun detail that will tickle your guests’ senses!

Get your lighting done by a pro

You’d be amazed at how decorative lighting can elevate an event. Pair your décor with event lighting to make the party even more magical. There are plenty of popular lighting designs for your special occasion. For example, custom monograms, uplights, backdrops, and gobo washes can transform a space into a wintry sight to behold. Take everyone’s breath away with a stunning design to complete your holiday event!

This year, surprise your guests with something refreshing and memorable. The holidays are the perfect opportunity to express your appreciation to your team and family, so make the most of your celebrations!

How to Level Up Your Event Photo Booth Experience

How to Level Up Your Event Photo Booth Experience

Your wedding is a day you’ll remember forever. While you may have a photographer to capture each intimate moment, you can also leave a memorable impression on your guests by renting a photo booth. This entertaining addition will bring out the best in your guests and ensure everyone has fun throughout the night. You can also get creative with personal touches to enhance the experience. If you want to bring a unique twist to your photo booth, here are some ideas to take yours to the next level.

How to Level Up Your Event Photo Booth Experience

Go big with props

No photo booth experience is complete without props. Silly faces, masks, hats, wigs, and signs are all fun ways for guests to let loose and express themselves. Props bring out a playfulness that balances the elegance of the celebration. So throw on those bright wigs and get ready to make some memories!

Many photo booths, like ones from Fantasy Sound, offer plenty of props, but you may consider DIYing or bringing your own, especially if you have a vision in mind that fits your wedding theme. For instance, if you’re going rustic, you can get some western hats and bandanas. Or, if you prefer the eclectic vibe, flower crowns are also a crowd favorite.

Customize your backdrops

Don’t want a blank canvas for your background? Go for a custom backdrop to personalize your wedding photo booth experience. You can have a monogram of your names, hashtags, wedding date, and splashes of your color palette. If you’re leaning into the latest trends, we recommend a live backdrop with greenery to bring the wow factor. Another fun idea is a floral backdrop that interweaves your colors for a stunning touch.

Get crafty with the guest book

Turn your photo booth into a wedding keepsake by having guests place their photos inside an album. In addition, you can provide markers and stickers for them to write their names and personalize a message. This photo booth idea is a unique way to bring out the artist in your family and friends.

Also, remind them to print out two copies so they have something special to take home.

Light it up

If you’re searching for an element that breathes magic into your pictures, focus on the lighting. A string of lights provides a warm and cozy ambiance perfect for capturing sweet moments. Plus, it’s a simple way to bring your fairytale to life with minimal effort. Add a string of lights for an extra spark in your photos, or better yet, use our Market Light Backdrop to give the illusion of twinkling stars.

Photo booths automatically transform an event. But adding elements like props and lights can make the photo booth experience even more enjoyable. So whether you go for a simple backdrop or bring out all the stops with props, you and your guests will remember the night for years to come.

Are you ready to elevate your event and photo booth? Then, RSVP to the next Event Services Showcase on 11/16 to meet our team and learn how we can service your special day!

Wedding DJ Guest Requests

Should Your Wedding DJ Allow Guest Requests?

When you’re planning a wedding, one of the many decisions you’ll make on the way to the aisle is the type of music and entertainment you’ll have for guests. Do you hire a DJ or a live band? Do you create your own playlist or let them run with it?

While DJs bring a lot to the table (no pun intended), it’s important to select a wedding DJ you can trust to keep the party alive. And in searching for the best fit, you’ll want to ask the all-important question:

How do you handle song requests as a wedding DJ?

There’s only one right answer: It’s up to you! A great wedding DJ leaves that decision to the couple, as it’s a matter of preference.

While we leave it up to our couples, we generally support guest requests as it adds an element of interaction to the celebration. If guests pick songs they love, it will surely get them on the dance floor! (Plus, there may even be some jams you forgot about in the shuffle of planning your wedding!)

Wedding DJ Guest Requests

But accepting guest requests doesn’t mean you lose control of your wedding vibe. Here are a few suggestions for opening the floor while maintaining the right energy:

Collect song requests before the wedding.

A popular way to involve guests in the party process early is by asking for song requests on the RSVP card. This will get your guests thinking about your big day and, when the wedding day arrives, they’ll be excited to hear their song! To jazz it up even more, consider placing RSVP cards conveniently for the wedding DJ to pick them out and shoutout your guests’s requests. Nothing brings the hype like a spotlight!

Create a “do not play” list.

Don’t worry about hearing songs you hate on your wedding day. If there are certain songs you can’t stand, create a “do not play” list to share with your DJ! That way, you aren’t surprised by a song that makes you cringe on the dance floor. That goes for those overplayed wedding songs that might feel a bit cliché for your big day. Don’t be afraid to set boundaries with the songs you don’t like!

Discuss expectations with your DJ.

Of course, most couples’ main concern is that someone will request a song they hate or one that isn’t appropriate for the rest of their guests. (There’s no need to make grandma blush on your wedding day!) That’s why working with an experienced DJ is essential.

A DJ with wedding experience will know which requests are worth taking and which aren’t a good fit for your big day. It’s their job to keep a pulse on the vibe of the party, so you can trust a seasoned DJ to take all requests with a grain of salt.

Make sure to set clear parameters around the style of songs you would like played. Just like your well-considered decor, your music needs to fit the vibe too. So share all the details, like your favorite artists, whether explicit music can be played, and which genres you would like to avoid.

Remember: This is your big day and your wedding DJ is there to make it all the better! Just like your other vendors, it’s vital to find a DJ you love and feel comfortable working with. After all, the DJ runs the party — so pick the best party manager you can!

Delford West Flowers

Karl R Eckel, Delford West Flowers {Creative Partner Spotlight}

Floral arrangements can make an event space come to life with the right florist. Lucky for you, we got to interview the very talented owner of Delford West Flowers, Karl R. Eckel!

He’s got an extraordinary eye for design, but we’ll let him tell you more about himself!

Tell us a bit about your professional background. What brought you to the event industry?

I was brought into the event industry on a recommendation from my uncle, a friend needed a part time driver for a flower shop. It was during high school and I was in the work study program and was able to attain credits with a part time job. After working there for two years, I wanted to own my own business and decided on a flower shop.

What do you love about your job?

I love my job because it is always changing and evolving, from the business aspect as well as the clients. I knew that I was not a person to work in an office with set hours. Even though we sell wedding flowers, I feel we are helping people fulfill the dreams of their perfect wedding, no matter how big or small.

If you could share one wedding planning tip with an engaged couple, what would you tell them?

The best tip I can give to engaged couples is to have the wedding they want; the only people they should please are themselves.

Who doesn’t want the best of the best bringing their space to life?! If you’re looking for a fantastic florist in Livermore, Delford West Flowers can hook you up. Check out their floral eye candy at @delfordwestflowers while you’re at it!

Just think about how stoked your guests would be if everyone’s favorite team mascot walked in to join the party; too fun, right? Dancing and snapping photos with your fave mascot will definitely stick with your guests for years to come!

Live entertainment

Live entertainment isn’t limited to live bands! Comedians, impersonators, artists (caricature, silhouette, etc.), tarot card readers, and many more are ready to join your big day and get your guests in the party mood. Whether they’re warming up the crowd during cocktail hour, livening up the reception after dinner, or surprising your guests near the end, there are a multitude of options to keep your loved ones on their toes!

DIY food stations

interactive food stations

Doughnut towers, ice cream sundae bowls, chocolate fountains, popcorn bowls, champagne flute stations, and so many more options are ready for you to make your own! Everyone loves an opportunity to eat, especially something they love! Get your guests off their feet and into your creative use of space and food; you and your guests will not be disappointed!

Choreographed dances

Hear us out: flash mob. Nothing like shaking up your guests’ expectations like surprising them with entertainment filled with familiar faces! This will take a little more time and planning but is so worth the added pizzaz on your big day. It’s also a very fun bonding moment for you and your wedding party!

A nod to shared passions

Think outside of the box. What are you and your future spouse passionate about? How can you incorporate that into your wedding day? The options are endless for your big day’s itinerary, so make it your own! If you love board games or murder mysteries, consider hosting a murder mystery game before dinner is served (a la The Office). Remember, it’s YOUR day!

Fireworks

If your venue permits, fireworks are always an exciting addition that adds a romantic flare to your wedding day. Enjoy the lights and shimmers in the sky before your big sendoff. Talk about going off with a bang!

There’s no need to feel confined to the typical wedding itinerary! The options are truly endless for your big day, so get creative and don’t hold back. Allow yourself the opportunity to thoroughly enjoy your day and your guests!

3 Types of Event Drapery Fabric

Whether it’s a Pinterest mood board, a fave Instagram aesthetic, or an idea in your head, you have the look and feel of your wedding day nailed down. If you want to achieve a particular look and feel, you will want all the details right.

A perfect wedding entails the right flowers, venue, colors, and drapery fabric! Yet, drapery fabric often gets overlooked, so let’s talk about how to pick the right style.

Sheer Drapery

Sheer Drapery

Sheer drapery might be your jam if you’re after a romantic, dreamy, light, and airy feel. Sheer fabric is lightweight, great for uplighting, and easy to manipulate into whatever you need. It gives off a soft, flowy look that is perfect for layering!

Poly Satin Drapery

Poly Satin Drapery

If elegance and high-class vibes are your goal, poly satin drapery is the fabric for you. This material has a glossy finish and comes in many colors, so you can get creative with your color palette. Poly satin’s sheen steps it up a notch and elevates a space for a more elegant feel.

Velour Drapery

Velvet Drapery

Royalty and old-world class are easily achieved with velour drapes. You might mistake this material for velvet, but velour is a superior choice over velvet as it’s more durable than its delicate counterpart. This fabric offers a soft texture that makes the space feel cozy and inviting. Perfect for making a large room feel more intimate for smaller guest counts!

Event drapery allows you to be creative in a multitude of ways, whether dressing up a table for food, guest books, and gifts or creating defined spaces within a larger room. Plus, certain materials can draw light in when needed or block light out for a dramatic effect — so a lighting designer can help you create the right design!

You can also use fabric to draw attention to certain areas of the room by hanging or draping around features like the sweetheart table, cake table, or dance floor. You can even use the material to accent centerpieces. The possibilities are endless! There are so many options for drapery and fabric, so be sure to check out what we have to offer!.

Event Lighting Q&A

Lighting is critical to the success of your big day. You will want more than a few light switches controlling the look of your space, so it’s best to have a professional handle it! The last thing you want is to poor lighting reflecting in your pictures and videos of your big day after all the hard work you put into planning and preparing. After all, your pictures are the best way to carry the memories of your big day forever!

Uplighting

Photography Credit: Ether & Smith

Q: Do I really need a lighting designer?

A: Yep – lighting design is what brings the rest of your wedding together! Even the most beautiful flowers won’t look so stunning under stuffy overhead lighting. An expert will ensure that your event space is well-lit while highlighting all of the amazing details.

Q: Do I need to have technical AND decorative lighting?

A: Yes! Technical and decorative lighting have very different purposes. While decorative lighting is intended to dress up your venue and add more dynamism to the space, technical lighting ensures everything is well-lit and functional. For instance, uplighting adds color to the room while spotlights highlight specific elements like the cake table or dance floor!

Event Lighting Q&A

Photography Credit: Ether & Smith

Q: How much can I expect to spend on event lighting?

That ultimately depends on how large your venue is, the size of your guest list, and your overall vision for the space. We recommend setting aside at least $1,500 in your budget, but your wedding planner and lighting designer can help you land on a more accurate estimate.

Q: When should I book a lighting designer for my wedding?

There is no such thing as too soon — especially with this year’s wedding boom! We suggest securing your wedding lighting contract shortly after booking your venue and wedding planner, as lighting will play a significant role in your planning process’s overall design and timeline.

While you might save a few dollars by nixing the lighting specialists, all the elements you invested time planning and putting together will suffer without a professional highlighting every last detail.

Casa Real Wedding | Tiffany + Jesse

Today, we’re bringing a truly stunning Casa Real wedding with you as we celebrate Tiffany and Jesse’s nuptials! It’s always a pleasure working at Casa Real, especially when we get to work with a couple as fun-loving and open-minded as these two.

Their sweet wedding ceremony brought elegance to the forefront with soft uplighting, gold accents, and beautiful blooms.

And as we move to the reception space, you’ll notice some familiar floral arrangements dressing up the sweetheart table! (Although you may miss it, seeing that our crystal beaded chandelier really stole the show.)

The starburst chandelier really highlighted the dance floor, putting Tiffany and Jesse center-stage for their first dance. And of course, their guests loved breaking it down “under the stars” as the night went on!

A simple, classy crystal chandelier strung above the sweetheart table added an elegant touch to the space, giving them the perfect photo op alongside blush blooms and greenery.

However, it wasn’t all fab design! Tiffany and Jesse’s guests were treated to a fully immersive experience with yard games like Connect 4 and Jenga, as well as a DIY horchata bar (YUM!).

So won’t you join us in celebrating these sweet lovebirds? Cheers to you, Tiffany and Jesse!

Wedding Lighting: 6 Types to Consider for Your Big Day

Once you dive into wedding planning, it’s easy to get excited about all of the little details that go into your perfect day. Chair types, linen choices, centerpieces… There’s a lot to consider when it comes to the look and feel of your big day. But there’s one element that allows your whole design to shine: wedding lighting!

Now, we’re not talking about the stuffy overhead lighting that feels like it says, “Party’s over, everyone! Go home!”

No, we’re talking about decorative lighting choices that enhance your wedding’s atmosphere by creating a mood and showcasing your well-planned details in the very best light.

Here are 7 show-stopping types of wedding lighting to elevate your big day!

Chandeliers

A classic choice when it comes to wedding lighting, chandeliers come in all shapes and sizes! From our 5-light orb chandeliers (pictured above) to our crystal beaded chandeliers, the opportunities are endless! Go glam, industrial, or traditional — there’s an option for you without a doubt!

Market Lights

Perfect for indoor and outdoor celebrations alike, market lights are also known as bistro lights or string lights. While typically sporting larger bulbs than “fairy lights” or “Christmas lights,” market lighting serves to enhance aesthetics while effectively lighting a space. Consider stringing them across your event space, winding them around trees or columns, or highlighting a special area (like a photo booth).

uplighting | tri-valley wedding lighting

Uplights

As the name suggests, uplights project light…upwards! This is a great way to add drama to a space. And the best part? Uplights come in all sorts of colors, so you can fill your venue with wedding lighting that matches your color palette! Positioned strategically, uplights can truly turn a room from drab to fab.

Candlelight

Who doesn’t love a cozy ambiance at a wedding? While candlelight is not intended to fill a space with light, it can certainly set the tone with its warm, calm flicker! In the photo above, uplights pair beautifully with floating candles on the table and our candle chandelier. Just be sure to check on fire regulations with your venue coordinator!

fresnel lantern gobo wash | bay area wedding lighting

Fresnel Lanterns / Gobo Washes

Fresnel lanterns are often known as “theatre lights” as they are commonly rigged up in theatres. However, they’re also equipped for washes, making them the perfect addition to your wedding lighting design! Color washes and patterned gobo washes add texture and visual appeal to a space, allowing you to personalize your wedding venue to match your vision.

Pendant Lighting

Pendant lights hang from the ceiling as single lights, just as our lanterns and Edison bulbs pictured above! These lights are versatile and simple, adding to any wedding design. So get creative and hang them throughout your space for extra impact!

So there you have it — six types of decorative wedding lighting to make your big day as picture-perfect as your love story! If you’re feeling inspired, get in touch and let us know what you’re thinking. We can’t wait to hear all about your wedding vision!

Looking Ahead at 2022 Wedding Trends

It’s here, it’s here! The New Year is here and, with it, we’re welcoming a whole slate of 2022 wedding trends fresh for the picking. For our fellow industry pros, you’re well aware that we’re in for a busy year. And for the engaged couples out there, you’re probably in the thick of wedding planning for your 2022 or 2023 wedding.

It’s true — as an industry, we’re still catching up from the countless postponements from the pandemic. Social distancing and restrictions on traveling and mass gatherings had put a damper on many wedding plans. However, with new knowledge about how to mitigate risk and manage COVID-19, weddings are back in full swing again!

2022 wedding trends

Let’s dive into the 2022 wedding trends to know this year…

If you are getting married, involved in planning your friend’s wedding, or simply curious about what’s on the horizon for weddings in 2022, we’ve got you covered. We’re giving you a lowdown on the hottest 2022 wedding trends that will dominate the scene this year and beyond.

Luxury meets comfort

This year, expect many engaged couples to keep the celebration to pared-down perfection! While classic black-tie weddings are definitely here to stay, events will be slightly less formal. Weddings in 2022 will exude a casual, elegant vibe and have a more inviting atmosphere. Think cocktail-style parties with posh food trucks in the vicinity, and the like.

Multiple-day celebrations

As we return to in-person gatherings, it comes as no surprise that engaged couples are putting extra effort into ensuring they create wonderful memories with loved ones at their wedding. As a result, many are planning multi-day experiences to make the most of their celebrations. This gives them more time to mingle and catch up with all of their favorite people outside of the event proper. It also allows them to space out meetings with guests and avoid mass gatherings with too many people.

Domestic destination weddings

Travel continues to be tricky as many countries have adopted stringent requirements for entry and tourism. Thus, you can expect more and more couples to explore beautiful, otherworldly destinations within the country for their celebrations. Not only is it more cost-effective, but it’s also more accessible for guests who are apprehensive of air travel. And this way, everyone can still enjoy some well-deserved respite from daily life without the hassle of international travel.

Weekday nuptials

Weekday weddings have been on the rise in recent years, and they will continue to be prevalent in the coming year due to increased demand. As restrictions loosen up, more and more vendors and venues have found themselves fully booked for weekends through 2022, and even into 2023. Weekday weddings are a great way to avoid traffic or crowds that often swell during the weekends. Not to mention, many couples are impatient to finally tie the knot and a weekday celebration can make it happen!

Countryside vibe

In need of a wedding theme idea? Many couples are finding inspiration from the hit Netflix series, Bridgerton. Expect trailing wisteria, Georgian wedding venues, personalized wax seals, and regency blue color palettes to abound in the wedding scene this coming year. And it comes as no surprise as, after over a year of lockdowns, couples are craving refreshing, outdoorsy weddings.

Technology-infused weddings

Livestreaming, online RSVPs, and QR codes that direct guests to the wedding website: These are just a few of the ways technology is incorporated into this year’s weddings. While quarantine restrictions are loosening in most states, travel may still not be possible or safe for everyone you want at your wedding, whether for health or other reasons. In 2022, couples are embracing technology to bridge the gaps!

These six trends are transforming the industry and the way we plan weddings, so keep an open mind as you embark on the next chapter of your journey to the aisle. Whether you’re nearly there or you’re just starting out, consider how these trends can influence your big day for the better!

Curious to know more about design and experiential trends to make your wedding day unforgettable? We’ve got you covered. Reach out and let us show you how our lighting & entertainment services can provide you with the modern, on-trend celebration of your dreams.

New Press: Popped! | Holiday Proposals

With the holidays upon us, we loved seeing Kevin’s latest feature on Popped! as he speaks to planning meaningful holiday proposals!

According to The Knot, peak proposal season falls between Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day with 40% (!!) of engagements taking place between November and February. The most popular days are, of course, for holiday proposals:

  • Christmas Day
  • Christmas Eve
  • Valentine’s Day
  • New Year’s Day
  • New Year’s Eve
  • Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving behind us, we are in the early stages of engagement season — and we can already feel the excitement brewing in the wedding industry!

So this feature on Popped! is a timely roundup if you’re considering popping the question in the next few months. Read it here.

popped - holiday proposals

Here’s a tidbit from the article, as Kevin suggests how to celebrate holiday proposals:

Kevin Dennis of Fantasy Sound Event Services says, “One of the best things about planning a proposal around the holidays is that your family and friends will likely already be in town, so you can organize a celebration fairly easy without drawing suspicion. Whether you choose to hold an impromptu engagement party or pop the question during a holiday get-together, you’ll be able to make the occasion even more special by having your loved ones involved.”

winter weddings

4 Reasons We Love Winter Weddings

Winter is quite a romantic season, making it perfect for saying “I do.” There’s no better time for couples to cozy up by a fire, go ice skating, or enjoy a lovely evening stroll. Here in California, we all love a little winter coziness and are complete suckers for dreamy winter weddings!

winter weddings

Whether you’re still deciding on your wedding season or you’re eagerly anticipating a wintry celebration of your own, here are some of our favorite things about winter weddings!

You can get creative with your menu.

Whether you’re going for a grand affair with hundreds of guests or prefer to keep the celebration small and intimate, food and drinks should never be overlooked when planning your wedding!

What’s great about winter weddings is that you don’t have to limit attendees to the usual chicken or beef options. The cold weather means anything goes—as long as it’s hot! You can get more creative with the menu by serving crowd-pleasing comfort foods and seasonal cocktails and beverages. Hearty soups, stews, classic mac and cheese, spiked apple cider, hot cocoas, and mulled wine are all worth considering.

You get your pick of some beautiful color palettes.

Who said winter weddings had to be boring or monochromatic? Couples often add touches of deep jewel tones such as red, burgundy, navy blue, and emerald green in their decorations. They add an element of elegance, and are quite a sight when paired with metallic accents! And with or without snow, the rich colors make a striking contrast against the overall grayness of the weather.

A winter wedding also never fails to create a romantic and cozy vibe. If you want to set a homey, inviting mood on your big day, you can add touches of rich browns and tans to evoke campfires and snug log cabins.

You will have more vendor availability with less budget.

Your wedding is one of the most important days in your life, and we know you want to create the most magical, memorable celebration possible. The vendors you pick can make or break your event, so it’s vital to put a lot of careful thought into choosing them! In the winter, vendors have more availability, so you’ll have a better chance at creating your dream team.

And of course, you also need to consider your budget because you don’t want to dip into your long-term savings or go into debt planning your wedding. Luckily, you have a good shot at booking highly-rated, sought-after vendors, and snagging their services at a lower rate! Why? Because winter is “off-season” in the wedding industry, so you’ll often see a drop in prices. It’s almost too good to be true!

Your guests will be eager to join.

Many couples choose to say their “I do’s” during the summer. By hosting yours in the winter, you don’t have to worry about competing with other weddings or summer vacations! Plus, most of your guests will likely have additional time off for the holidays, so it won’t take much convincing to extend their breaks to accommodate your wedding. It’ll be much easier to get all of your favorite people in the world together for the celebration of the season!

As they say, winter is the most wonderful time of the year! If a wintry wonderland wedding is in your sights, you’re making a great choice. Enjoy your wedding preparations!
