This month, we are pleased to introduce the incredibly talented Misty Wainwright from Rosebud Floral Design Bay Area wedding florist.

Tell us a bit about your professional background. What brought you to the event industry?

As a child, I was surrounded by wildflowers every summer during camping trips. At age sixteen, my first job was in a floral shop in Livermore. I continued working for floral shops during college. I used my Biology degree for about a decade and then realized I wanted to start my own business. I knew my talent for floral design would allow me to do this, and I sought out after my dream of becoming a wedding florist.  

What do you love about your job?

 I am a people person, to a tee. I enjoy hearing about their floral dreams and talking through each design. I always want my clients to feel inspired and at ease, and truly want them to feel that their event is in excellent hands.

What’s the most memorable reaction you’ve seen from a couple on their wedding day?

It’s the smiles, tears, and screams that give me goosebumps. I always remember these reactions from my clients as soon as they walk into their ceremony and reception spaces. As they are on a high for the day, I relish keeping them on a high with their flowers. I always strive to give my clients more than expected!  

If you could share one wedding planning tip with an engaged couple, what would you tell them?

I would tell them to ask their vendors what services they offer as they prepare for their wedding day. Don’t be afraid to ask about anything.  

I get a lot of DIY-type clients that want to have their family or friends help out. However, I suggest not giving that person too much. Instead, spread out the “day of” tasks to one per person. This way, once that task is completed, then that person is able to relax and enjoy the festivities.
